Massey went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Astros.

Massey crushed a solo shot in the eighth inning off the right-field foul pole to bring the lead to 3-0 for the Royals. This was Massey's first home run since coming off the 7-day concussion injured list in early September. Since returning from the injury, Massey is slashing .326/.354/.435 with two doubles, a homer and a steal in 12 games.

Massey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

The Royals will give Massey a break while Nick Loftin fills in for him at second base. Massey had started in each of the Royals' last four games, going 5-for-14 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI following his return from the 7-day concussion injured list.

The Royals activated Massey from the 7-day concussion injured list Wednesday.

Massey was injured Aug. 25 against Toronto when he fell down making a throw to first base and missed the past six games. The 28-year-old is slashing .276/.310/.444 with 11 home runs, 44 RBI, 46 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 19:62 BB:K across 366 trips to the plate this season and should return to the large side of a platoon at second base now that he's recovered.

The Royals placed Massey on the 7-day concussion injured list Thursday.

Massey sat out Wednesday's game after he fell and hit his head while making a throw to first base during Tuesday's contest, and he'll officially remain out of action for at least a week after being diagnosed with a concussion. Tyler Tolbert figures to take over as Kansas City's primary second baseman while Massey is sidelined, and Josh Rojas will come up from Triple-A to replenish the team's infield depth.

Massey (head) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
