A scouting notebook for two dynasty leagues
DiamondScout is a personal tool for researching players and running the farm systems in two ESPN dynasty fantasy baseball leagues, Real Sluggers and FLB. It pulls MLB and minor league data from the MLB Stats API, Baseball Savant, and FanGraphs, reads the leagues directly from ESPN, and puts all of it on one screen so a prospect's stats, age for his level, and availability in each league are never more than a click apart.
What is here
- League hub
- Reads both ESPN leagues directly. Every roster with that league's scoring categories, free agents, and each team's farm from the weekly protected lists. Vulture Mode flags prospects on other farms who are about to graduate, and the watchlist shows whether a player is available in either league.
- Player pages
- Season and year-by-year lines, Statcast percentiles and pitch arsenal, splits, transactions, injury status, and news. Minor league history labels each season with the parent org from that year, since affiliations move around. Two badges at the top say where the player stands in Real Sluggers and FLB: rostered, on a farm, or free agent.
- Prospects
- Every minor league level plus prospect-eligible big leaguers, with age against the league's average age, key rates, and sleeper and breakout tags. Rows sort by a 0 to 100 score that accounts for age and level.
- Statcast and Radar
- Leaderboards for exit velocity, barrels, expected stats, sprint speed, and defense, with a starters and relievers split for pitchers. Radar filters the pool by Statcast thresholds to find who is actually elite right now.
- Everything around it
- Live scores and today's starters, standings, leaders, minor league standings and leaders by level, injuries, transactions, player comparison, trade evaluation, spring training, and a glossary.
Where the numbers come from
Nothing here is a black box. Each stat traces back to one of these sources, and anything estimated locally, like xFIP for a season FanGraphs does not cover, says so in its tooltip.

- Baseball Savant · Statcast leaderboards, percentile rankings, expected stats including xERA, batted-ball profiles.
- FanGraphs · FIP, xFIP, and SIERA for MLB seasons, shown exactly as published there.
- ESPN · League rosters, free agents, and ownership for the two fantasy leagues, plus player news and the injury report.
Farm rules
Both leagues protect minor leaguers on a farm list until they graduate. The app applies each league's rules when it decides whether a player is still a prospect and who he belongs to.
Real Sluggers
- A prospect has under 250 career MLB at-bats, or under 100 career innings for pitchers.
- Each farm names one Golden Prospect whose thresholds are doubled to 500 at-bats or 200 innings.
- A prospect belongs to a team only if that team lists him.
FLB
- Same 250 at-bat line for hitters. Starters graduate at 100 innings, relievers at 50, and the role can flip either way.
- No Golden Prospect.
- The My Team Rule: every MLB prospect belongs to his own organization's fantasy team unless he has been traded away.
About the score
Prospect tables sort by a 0 to 100 score. It weighs rate stats, age relative to the level's average age, and distance from the majors. A player who is young for his level or clearly dominating it can break through that level's ceiling, and scores above 90 are rare on purpose. Treat it as a sorting aid, not a verdict.
