Harris has hit safely in his last eight games, going 13-for-31 (.419) in that span. The outfielder has provided some speed with three steals and two triples in that span. For the season, he's batting .314 with a .776 OPS, no home runs, 18 RBI, 17 runs scored, three doubles, three triples and nine steals over 117 plate appearances between the Padres, White Sox and Astros.

Harris is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against Colorado.

Despite riding a modest four-game hitting streak, Harris will rest as the Rockies send southpaw Kyle Freeland to toe the slab Tuesday. Samad Taylor will man left field and bat eighth for San Diego.

Harris will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Reds.

Since being called up from Triple-A El Paso on Aug. 24, the left-handed-hitting Harris has been included in the lineup for five of the Padres' six matchups with righties. He's gone 6-for-12 with a double, a stolen base and three runs following his call-up and should hold down the strong side of a platoon in the corner outfield while he's swinging a hot bat.

The Padres selected Harris' contract from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Harris inked a minor-league contract with the Padres before the All-Star break after being granted his release from the White Sox in early July. He has a 1.039 OPS with 10 steals, six homers and 26 RBI over 135 plate appearances with El Paso this season, and the move bolsters a Padres outfield that is without Ramon Laureano (hip), Samad Taylor (oblique) and Miguel Andujar (wrist). In corresponding moves, Sung-Mun Song was optioned to Triple-A and Lucas Giolito (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
