Rodriguez has gotten on track by hitting safely in seven of his last eight games, adding five RBI and two steals in that span. The outfielder is up to 22-for-25 on the basepaths this season. Rodriguez is batting .243 with a .701 OPS, 21 home runs, 24 doubles, 66 RBI and 68 runs scored in 142 contests on the year.
Rodriguez has gone 6-for-16 over four games since he was dropped to fifth in the batting order. The outfielder was one of five Mariners to collect at least three hits in Saturday's onslaught of offense. For the season, Rodriguez is batting .243 with a .701 OPS, 21 home runs, 65 RBI, 68 runs scored, 22 doubles and 20 stolen bases over 138 contests, putting him in line for the worst year of his career in most categories.
Jacob deGrom dominated Texas over the first six innings of Thursday's matchup, but Seattle pounced in the seventh following deGrom's departure. Rodriguez came up with the big hit in that frame, belting a three-run shot to left-center field to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead. The long ball snapped a 14-game homerless stretch for Rodriguez, and he had been ice cold during that span, slashing just .153/.180/.203 with a 27.9 percent strikeout rate. He did steal four bases during that stretch, however, and with 21 homers and 20 thefts on the campaign, Rodriguez is one of seven big leaguers to reach the 20/20 mark to this point in the season.
Rodriguez plated Seattle's first run with a double in the first inning and added another RBI on a fielder's choice groundout in the sixth. However, his most impactful production from a fantasy perspective was the three stolen bases he tallied over the course of the contest. The trio of thefts pushed Rodriguez up to 20 steals this season -- a mark he's now reached in each of his first five MLB campaigns. Per MLB, he's the first player in league history to log both 20 stolen bases and 20 homers in five consecutive seasons to begin a career.
Rodriguez helped Seattle get off to a fast start with a three-run blast off Zack Wheeler in the first inning. The long ball snapped a 10-game homerless stretch during which he batted just .159 (7-for-44) with only one RBI and a 1:17 BB:K. Rodriguez hasn't been able to put it all together yet this year -- his .725 OPS is on pace for a career-worst mark -- though his homer Monday gave him 20 long balls for the fifth straight season. He's added 16 steals, 60 runs and 56 RBI through 121 contests.
