The White Sox traded Jones, Seranthony Dominguez and Boston Smith to the Mariners on Saturday in exchange for Luis Castillo, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Jones has been a part of Chicago's organization since he was traded by Cleveland in mid-June, but he'll now head to Seattle and presumably be assigned to Triple-A Tacoma. He has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has an .807 OPS with 11 steals, 14 home runs and 59 RBI across 382 plate appearances. Jones last saw major-league action in 2025 with the Guardians and had a .600 OPS in 136 contests.

Jones and cash considerations were dealt from the Guardians to the White Sox in return for international pool money Thursday.

Jones will report to Triple-A Charlotte upon his arrival to his new organization. The outfielder has posted a .275 average with eight home runs, 31 RBI, 32 runs scored and three stolen bases over 189 at-bats over 52 games with Triple-A Columbus so far this season. Jones will look to potentially get a shot with Chicago's big-league roster down the road this year, though the club's current crop of young outfielders is more than holding their own in the majors, at the moment.

Jones accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The 27-year-old had the ability to reject the assignment and become a free agent, but he'll instead stick in the organization. Jones played in 136 regular-season games for Cleveland last year and had a .211/.296/.304 slash line with five home runs and eight steals.

The Guardians outrighted Jones to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Jones has the choice to reject the outright assignment and become a free agent. The 27-year-old outfielder has been trending toward missing the Opening Day roster, as he slashed just .211/.296/.304 across 403 regular-season plate appearances for Cleveland last season and went 5-for-33 (.152) with 14 strikeouts this spring.

Jones is not included on the latest roster projection compiled by Zack Meisel of The Athletic.

There are several reasons why Jones is not a lock to make the Opening Day roster, and those were established before he went 3-for-26 (.115) through nine Cactus League games. Jones' left-handed bat is redundant, and the Guardians' decision to test Steven Kwan in center field and the need to give at-bats to prospects ready for MLB are also signs that Jones is on the bubble. It was mildly surprising Cleveland committed $2 million to the outfielder instead of non-tendering him last November, considering Jones was coming off a two-year backslide following what looked like a breakout season in 2023.
