The Tigers transferred Vierling (adductor/heel) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Vierling initially landed on the IL on July 31 due to a left adductor strain. He then suffered a heel injury in late August, and the pair of issues will result in Vierling being ruled out for the remainder of the regular season. He could theoretically return for the playoffs, but that might be a moot point with Detroit currently 6.5 games back of a wild-card spot.

Vierling landed on the 10-day injured list in late July with an adductor strain, and he now has a new injury to contend with. The 29-year-old will likely need a rehab assignment before being activated, and there is no timeline for his return.

Vierling tweaked his adductor during Wednesday's game against the Orioles. The injury is severe enough for him to go on the IL, and the Tigers will have a better sense of Vierling's return timeline once he's cleared to resume baseball activities. Max Clark's contract was selected from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move, and the 21-year-old outfielder will make his major-league debut against the Athletics on Friday.
