Brebbia allowed five runs over 4.1 innings in three appearances for the Rockies earlier this season but has spent most of the year at the Triple-A level, posting a 4.14 ERA and 45:11 K:BB over 37 innings. He will provide some experienced relief depth at Triple-A Worcester.

The 36-year-old righty will report to Triple-A Albuquerque, where he has thrown nine shutout innings while striking out 10 batters without conceding a walk.

Brebbia cleared waivers Friday and elected free agency.

The 36-year-old had two scoreless outings before making his third and final appearance against Miami on Tuesday, when he allowed five earned runs off five hits in one inning. Colorado recalled Gabriel Hughes to take Brebbia's spot on the active roster.

The 36-year-old Brebbia caught on with the Rockies on a minor-league deal in late May and was highly effective over his seven appearances for Albuquerque, striking out 10 over nine scoreless frames. Brebbia could quickly settle into a high-leverage role in a Colorado bullpen that's lacking dependable arms.
