Judge said Saturday that he didn't know the grade of his calf strain, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. "I gotta talk to the trainers and figure that out," Judge said.

"It doesn't matter what grade it is," manager Aaron Boone said, as the Yankees continue to offer little information regarding Judge's new injury. The one detail that was disclosed is that Judge is dealing with a strain of the soleus muscle, which is crucial to running and hitting, making it more difficult to play through than some other types of calf injuries. Judge added that he'd like to be back by the postseason. "That's definitely the plan," Judge said.

The Yankees placed Judge on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right calf strain, retroactive to Thursday.

Judge will be eligible to return from the injured list before New York's regular-season finale, though it's more likely that the team keeps him on the shelf until the postseason. Heliot Ramos is the favorite to take over as the Yankees' primary right fielder while Judge is out, and Max Schuemann will come up from Triple-A to fill the open roster spot.

Judge picked up the injury during Wednesday's game against the Twins, and the superstar slugger will likely be sidelined for the rest of the regular season. It will be the second stint on the IL this year for Judge, and it's unclear whether his current injury will impact his availability for the start of the AL playoffs. Heliot Ramos should see more work in right field in Judge's absence, and while a corresponding move won't be announced until Saturday, Jasson Dominguez figures to be the top candidate to get a promotion from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The full extent of Judge's latest issue is uncertain, but it's discouraging that he's already dealing with something new a little over a week after his return from a stress fracture in his ribs. New York is off Thursday before it begins a three-game set on the turf in Arizona on Friday.
